Malaysia Coffee Week 2023 : Highlights

Meetings after meetings, racing against time to assemble our booth, and 2 all-nighters of construction later, we finally unveiled our booth at the Malaysia Coffee Week 2023 on Thursday, 26th October 2023.

Held annually, Malaysia Coffee Week is the most exciting coffee consumer event in Malaysia. Each year, vendors are given the opportunity to showcase their brand, products, coffee beans, and other specialties to the crowd.

This is the second time the Malaysia Coffee Week was held after the covid season, where it was held online to adhere to the lockdown restrictions. And it was apparent that this year's reception was the biggest Malaysia Coffee Week yet!

The weekend was filled with even more crowd, and we collaborated with 4 coffee brands namely Bean Brothers, Bad Artist, One Half Roastery, and Tyler Coffee Workshop.

Bean Brothers kickstarted our bar takeovers for the weekend, serving up their signature Espresso Con Panna and espresso on the rocks using their Black Suit beans. The Espresso Con Panna was a symphony of the elements, with cold, sweet cream spooned on top of a steaming hot shot of bitter and comforting espresso. Their espresso on the rocks was nothing short of refreshing , with the ice to lock in all the great flavours as the espresso is pulled right on top.

Han of Bad Artist Coffee Co started to brew his own coffee during the peak of the pandemic. 3 years later, he's established himself as a home roaster and brewer as seen at our bar takeover where many guests enjoyed his variety of roasts (us included!). His signature during the bar takeover was a blend of beans from Colombia, Ethiopia, and Papua New Guinea.

On Sunday, One Half Roastery, the home of Barista Champion—Keith Koay also made an appearance, serving up their exquisite Mikava Geisha roasted beans in filter and espresso. A feast for the senses, their coffee was a coffee connoisseur's absolute dream to try. It was also a great introduction for budding enthusiasts to delve deeper into the world of specialty coffee.

Tyler Coffee Workshop hosted a latte art demonstration, becoming the star of the show when he begin pouring 4 unique latte art that was worthy of world championship. The crowd even got the chance to participate in his "mini workshop". He invited one guest after the other to give a shot at pouring latte art, and gives advise throughout the whole process.

As the purveyor of fine coffee equipments, we displayed some of our top brands such as showcasing a La Marzocco Home wall with 3 Linea Micras and the Nordic Linea Mini.

The Rocket Bicocca also made its first appearance after Host Milano 2023 at our booth, being one of the only 2 units in the world.

Designed by the famous Valerio Cometti, the Bicocca caught everyone's attention as it was also used for all of the bar takeovers. The Bicocca is a true double-boiler beast, with just a single on/off knob at the front panel, and all features can be toggled on the full OLED display right above the beefy group head.

Besides the usual suspects, we also featured accessories from Acaia and Fellow, namely the Acaia scales—the Lunar, Pearl and Pearl S, along with the whole range of Fellow products like the Stagg EKG Kettle, on-the-go mugs and their famous Atmos Vacuum Canister.

Speaking of their canister, we held activities our booth for guests to stand a chance at winning Fellow products by playing the hidden mini game Wormy, featured on the Fellow Stagg EKG Kettle, and guessing the weight of the coffee beans inside a Fellow Atmos Vacuum Canister.

The fun didn't stop there, as we also sponsored lucky draw prizes for all Malaysia Coffee Week 2023 attendees who completed their passport stamp trail by visiting selected booths in the fair (including us!).

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you everyone who came by our booth and for your endless support of Lamarsa. We hope you had a blast as much as we did last week, and we'll be back better than ever at the next Malaysia Coffee Week 2024!

See you next year!
