Mahlkönig First 100 Years : Highlights
We held the celebration of a century with Mahlkönig and Coffex Coffee Malaysia!
On 23rd May 2024, we invited a 100 guests to If Only KL to commemorate a hundred years of Mahlkönig innovation and excellence.
The FIRST 100 YEARS party looks at celebrating incredible Mahlkönig milestones, from the first EK0 W1 BN grinder, the predecessor of the beloved EK43 that we all lovingly know as the King of Grinders. Mahlkönig has also achieved milestones as creating the first twin grinder, the first Grind-by-Weight grinder, and now, the Grind-by-Sync system.
Mahlkönig has definitely had a fruitful 100 years.
The party started after the end of the first day of the International Café and Beverage Show (ICBS) 2024 in KLCC, which most of our guests were attending. When our guests began to pour in, we had a feast fit for a king— a wide array of delicious hors d'oeuvres served by the If Only team.
Once our guests were comfortable with satiated bellies and meaningful conversations, the night truly began with a warm welcome from Kelvin from Coffex Coffee Malaysia and our very own Ben from Lamarsa Coffee Machine Company. We were also introduced to Ross Quail, the APAC Head of Sales of Hemro Group.
We also gifted an exclusive Mahlkönig collage jacket to Sherman, our winner from an online contest we had, where participants had to post a picture on their social media of their favourite Mahlkönig product and why they loved it!
We then invited Ben, Kelvin and the Hemro Group team back to the centre stage for a grand unveiling of the EK Omnia—the first official appearance in Malaysia.
After the grand gesture, Vanessa Teng, the SEA Sales Manager of Hemro Group gave a brief introduction of the flagship grinder, giving us all the details inside and out of the faster, smarter and predictable espresso + filter EK Omnia grinder with the classic 90mm steel cast flat burrs.
We were then brought to the front of the restaurant for a short yet concise introduction to Mahlkönig's revolutionary new Sync System featuring the new Mahlkönig E80W Grind-by-Sync. Demonstrated along side the La Marzocco KB90 ABR, Ross explained how the grinder and coffee machine 'speak' to each other through the cloud for automatic calibration, giving you your desired output every time. The grinder automatically adjusts its grind size through continuous learning, and all you have to do is select your output and ideal time.
It was then time for our favourite event of the night—games and lucky draws!
Our first game was a treasure hunt where our guests had to find 5 QR codes scattered around the restaurant. The lucky guest who scans the QR code first would receive special prizes, including custom-made themed t-shirts and coasters.
Our second game was trivia quizzes about Mahlkönig, from what year Mahlkönig was born to the names of the different grinders from over the course of a hundred years.
At the end, we had a lucky draw, where two of our wonderful guests walked home with a brand new Mahlkönig X54 home grinder!
