Staff Picks of the Month - Fellow Opus Coffee Grinder
You've seen him on camera in our YouTube videos, and this time, he's our featured staff for this blog!
Hazim is our in-house Marketing Executive, handling copywriting, events, social media, email marketing and of course, our YouTube channel. He is the brains behind our signature content like our informative product videos, entertaining TikToks and even down to our product photoshoots.
For his pick, Hazim chooses the Fellow Opus, the all-round grinder fitting for his all-round role in Lamarsa Coffee.
"This all-round 40mm conical burr grinder can grind to any size I want, and it works really well given the price point! With its small footprint and feather-light weight, it sits perfectly on my home coffee bar."
Hazim emphasizes that the Fellow Opus extremely affordable as an entry-level or starter grinder for coffee lovers wanting to try out all types of coffee from filter to espresso. It can be used as a single dose grinder, or you can store up to 110g of coffee beans in its hopper. Grinding is also made mess-free with its included ionizer and catch cups for both filter and portafilter.
"Inside the lid, there's a grind guide that helps you to determine your grind size for what kind of coffee you're preparing, including cold brew, french press, Aeropress, and espresso.
For a more accurate grind size, you can simply remove the hopper chamber (or the load bin) and use the inner ring to make micro adjustments as necessary."
Prior to being our marketing superstar, Hazim was a barista of 8 years, knowing the ins-and-outs of the specialty coffee world from a first-hand view more than just a consumer.
He started out as a part-time barista during his university days pursuing his degree in psychology and marketing, and moved on to becoming a full-time barista after graduation under the mentorship of his supervisor and late friend, Tot.
His transition into the marketing and social media sphere began when he joined 2 startup companies and joined their marketing and merchandising department.
Now, 3 years in the making, just like how long Fellow took to develop the Opus after achieving great success with its Ode grinder, Hazim leads the Lamarsa Coffee marketing team and embarks on projects like our cafe features, marketing campaigns and event collaborations.
For day-to-day work, Hazim frequently consults our sales and technical teams for more info about the machines and accessories we carry, allowing him to get a clearer view from a technical standpoint. Being able to better explain the machine helps Hazim cater his content to be suitable for all audiences, from the casual enthusiast to the professional barista.
Using the Fellow Opus is pretty straightforward.
"Like any single-dose workflow, I weigh the beans prior to grinding, and just chuck the beans in the hopper. Press the button once and it will grind for 30 seconds, twice for 60 seconds, and three times for 90 seconds. For larger batches, the Opus can grind up to 2 minutes by pressing and holding the button a little longer."
You would probably use it for your first home espresso machine setup, or even a modest filter coffee bar.
Either way, the Opus covers the full range with ease.
"You might think I'm biased and it's fair to think so, but I actually bought and have been using the Fellow Opus at home for about half a year now. The conical burrs give out high body and sweetness, with medium clarity for my filter coffee. The Opus definitely delivers."
"And as you'd expect from Fellow, the Opus looks really sleek. You can tell it's a really well-thought-out grinder from the price point, features, capabilities, and of course, the design."
The Fellow Opus allows all coffee lovers and enthusiasts to unlock the full potential of their coffees through all types of brewing styles. This grinder is truly the do-it-all grinder for do-it-all homes.
