Staff Picks of the Month: Kinu M47 Phoenix Manual Grinder

Here at Lamarsa Coffee Machine Company, we are as passionate about our products as we are when providing them for our beloved customers. Our team is made up of coffee enthusiasts and geeks, so each month our team chooses a coffee gear that they love and think deserve some spotlight.

Let's begin with the first Staff Picks of the Month by Aainaa.

Aainaa is the senior admin executive at Lamarsa. She has been with the company for the past 2 years and is responsible for shipment arrangements, monitoring online orders, and keeping track of stock level, among others.

"I was only exposed to specialty coffee when I first work in Lamarsa. Since my job required me to know all about specialty coffee, I decided to learn about it as I began my journey in Lamarsa. Over time, I slowly learned the necessary knowledge and gained appreciation towards the taste of meticulously crafted coffee."

When asked about her favorite product from the shelf, she immediately pointed to the Kinu M47 Phoenix Hand Grinder.

"While it may not be the cheapest hand grinder out there, it is definitely affordable as far as high-end hand grinders are concerned. Before the pandemic hit, I used to go for hiking with my friends, and the Kinu M47 Phoenix is the perfect hand grinder to brew fresh coffee as I make the peak! It is simply portable, durable, and easy to use."

"The Phoenix is my favorite because it is reliable and the materials Kinu used are of high quality. The grind adjustment is also stepless, so I can easily adjust to the right grind size for my brew. You know how the Germans are when it comes to intricate engineering. And when I say it is portable, it really is as it is the lightest of all the Kinu grinders."

We requested a demonstration on how to use the Kinu Phoenix, and Aainaa decided to brew us with a Clever Dripper. "I prefer the clever dripper because it is pretty straightforward to use. It is probably the easiest pour over for any coffee beginners. It uses immersion brewing, so you just need to add the ground coffee in and pour hot water, let it immerse for about 1-2 minutes and place it on carafe. The coffee will then draw down through the dripper for about 30-45 seconds, and you're done!"

The result? A bright and delicate cup that brings out the complexities of the naturally washed Ethiopian that was used to brew.

The 25-year-old is also accredited with an SCA certificate in Barista Skills Foundation, and also two "degrees" from Cottle Coffee Academy. "These courses have helped me understand better about specialty coffee and how the coffee gears we provide are responsible for brewing specialty coffee. I also got more confident to help out at the small bar we have in the showroom where we serve takeaway coffee for the patrons."

"I highly recommend the Kinu Phoenix M47 Manual Grinder if you're looking for a grinder that actually delivers consistency. Especially if you are a traveler, the Phoenix will come in really handy in those tricky situations. The silicon O-ring enhances the grip for a better grinding experience, and if you are seeking for a delicious cup, the 47mm high-grade conical steel burr is more than enough to do the job".
