Staff Picks of the Month : La Marzocco Linea PB

It is Staff Picks of the Month time and for this month, Faiz will be sharing with us about his favorite pick and also a little bit about himself. Faiz has been with Lamarsa for the past 2 years, along with over 9 years of experience in the field. He oversees the daily operations of the workshop and lead the technical team, making sure all is smooth sailing by providing training and support to the field technicians as well.

"My job doesn't just require me to be at the workshop and tinkering with coffee machines all the time. It is also important for me to make sure our technicians analyze, troubleshoot, and evaluate each issue accordingly and in a safe manner."


On top of leading his team, he also emphasized on the importance of providing technical advice through clear communication with the internal team, sales team, and customers.


"It's really wild how quick technology grows and evolves over the years, especially in the case of coffee technology. People come up with new and innovative technology to make coffee taste better. As the lead technician, it is important that I not only sharpen my skills but also keep myself updated with the latest coffee tech news."


At the time of the interview, he was making himself a cup of latte with the La Marzocco Linea PB; his favorite pick.

"The Linea PB is an update of the Linea Classic with modernized technical and stylistic workings."


And as one would have guessed from the initials "PB", it was designed by and in recognition of Piero Bambi, the son of the founder of La Marzocco, Giuseppe Bambi.


"Despite the facelift and upgrade, the Linea PB retains the iconic look of the Linea Classic. If you're café hopper, I'm pretty sure you'd recognize the design from just one look."



The Linea PB is a double boiler commercial machine. It features improved component longevity and new electronics, giving the barista control over functions directly from the machine interface – including boiler temperatures, brewing volume, hot water tap dose, and auto-backflush, among others.


"A true workhorse" he says.


"Another nifty feature that I like about this machine is the saturated group head. Rather than being a separate part of the machine, the Linea PB saturated group heads act as an extension of the coffee boiler, allowing for consistent water temperature throughout."



He smirked and continued, "The Linea PB is also maintenance friendly! It's not as complicated as other advanced coffee machines to fiddle with, and we can easily advice customers on how to properly maintain the machine to prolong its life too."


With high tech features, a beautiful design and straightforward operations, the Linea PB is a cinch for any cafes facing high volume.


"I have worked with countless of machines over the years. And while there are a few machines that are noteworthy, the Linea PB simply comes to my mind when I was requested for a staff pick. Currently, we are very comfortable and happy using the Linea PB to serve takeaways to our customers at the showroom."
