We finally spent some time with the Fellow Espresso Series 1.
If you’re in the coffee industry, chances are you’ve already seen bits of it here and there. And even if you’re not, it probably still popped up on your feed at some point.
First impression, it feels very much like Fellow. Clean, minimal, and a little different from the usual espresso machines you see in the market.
Catch Chien & Steven using it here:
Our first time on the machine felt a little unfamiliar, with just a knob and 3 piano key buttons on the machine to navigate. The steamwand is also slightly bigger than usual. It was an interesting experience steaming with a bigger steamwand that also comes with assisted temperature control and auto purge, felt a little pampering.
As you scroll through the menu, you’ll find a selection of pre-set recipes. It makes the whole process feel simple, especially for beginners, with the machine guiding you through each step.
For those who want to be a little more adventurous, you can also build your own recipe, customising brew temperature, pre-infusion time, infusion and ramp down. For something that looks this minimal, there’s actually quite a lot you can do with it.
It’s a machine that feels simple at first, but gradually opens up the more you use it.
