Late last year, La Marzocco announced their latest home espresso machine yet, the Linea Micra. Fast forward a couple of months, and it has finally arrived on our shores! Lamarsa Coffee Machine Company had the honor of unveiling the Linea Micra to the Malaysian market on the 25th February 2023, which was held at Bean Brothers PJ.
The Linea Micra took the home barista world by storm as the smallest espresso machine yet by La Marzocco. Despite the existence of Micra's elder siblings, the GS3 and the Linea Mini, there were still some coffee enthusiasts preferring something a little bit smaller and more suitable for their home environment.
The people at La Marzocco listened, and thus, the Linea Micra was born. Inspired by the Linea Classic S, the Micra is a home espresso machine that carries around the tagline "Bring The Cafe Home," and it's for a good reason.
By 2 pm, coffee people from all walks of life started at Bean Brothers PJ, located in Sunway Damansara. From home baristas to professionals from the speciality coffee industry, it was apparent that everyone couldn't wait to get their hands on the Micra.
While waiting for the event to officially commence, guests helped themselves to light refreshments of tapas and free-flow drinks, catered by Bean Brothers.

After a brief introduction of the special guests, which included Jacklyn from La Marzocco South East Asia, they proceeded to unveil the Linea Micra together. The Micra may have made appearances all over the world by then, but it was the first time for the Malaysian market to get up close and personal with the small but mighty machine!

Product specialist, Fu Jun, then began his presentation of the Linea Micra, highlighting the new features of the Micra, which included the Linea Classic S-inspired design, easier access to the OPV, the vertical steam boiler, and, of course, the "controversial" convertible portafilter with polymer plastic spouts.
It was later explained that the decision to work with the polymer material was due to its lower thermal mass. The conventional stainless steel spout with a much higher thermal mass takes a while to heat up, while the polymer takes as fast as 5 minutes. Clearly, it made a lot more sense to incorporate the polymer with the Micra.
Two Linea Micras were stationed for the guests to try, and the crowd wasted no time flocking to each station to try for themselves. Two different coffee beans were also served respectively: Velvet White, being a fruity coffee with fresh citrus flavours, and the Black Suit being nutty with a sweet-bitter taste of dark chocolate.

Both coffee beans were kindly sponsored by Bean Brothers, who also sponsored the venue for the event.
The siblings of the Micra got their fair share of limelight as well. On display, the iconic Linea Mini and also the GS3 were placed between the Micras as part of the La Marzocco Home line. In the midst of the event, the emcee proceeded to ask some trivia questions regarding the Linea Micra. 3 lucky winners who managed to answer them correctly won an official La Marzocco tote bag and merchandise each.

The event reached its end as the sun was almost setting. Guests began to leave the premises, but not without some merchandise from La Marzocco, and of course, with the inclination of bringing the cafe home.
Why Bring The Cafe Home?
Apart from being the smallest La Marzocco machine, the Micra is extremely capable of anything that you throw at it (pun intended) for a home espresso machine. It is one of the smallest double boiler system, boasting features such as a 5-minute heat-up time, convertible portafilter, and powerful steaming power, among others.
Despite all that, the Linea Micra is simply a beautiful espresso machine that looks relatively straightforward and streamlined. Slanted side panels inspired by the Linea Classic S, clean lines and remarkable finishing. Access to more features, such as temperature control for brew and steam boiler, auto on and off scheduling, and even pre-brewing, can be easily accessed through the La Marzocco Home app.

La Marzocco believes that one should not compromise on quality even when you're brewing at home, and the Micra does just that. The Linea Micra may be a small espresso machine, but it has everything you need to get a cafe-quality experience at home. Hence, the tagline "Bring The Cafe Home."
